Conflict of interest: Opposition seeks Vinod Tawde's removal
MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Assembly proceedings were adjourned thrice after Congress-NCP raised the issue of Education Minister Vinod Tawde having a conflict of interest as he was a Director of a forprofit company.

ET had first highlighted on February 25 that Tawde was a director in a for-profit company that ran newspaper Tarun Bharat. The issue was raised in the Assembly by Opposition leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil who said that under the code of conduct, ministers cannot be allowed to hold office of profit. Echoing his party colleague, Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said, “The code of conduct was finalised in 1964 and even Sonia Gandhi had resigned as per the code of conduct. If there is any tainted minister then he should resign or should be removed.”
