Comrades share dais with UNPA leaders

Left leaders have participated in a protest rally organised by the UNPA to protest against the Manmohan Singh government's apathy towards the farmers' cause.

NEW DELHI: The going seems to be getting tougher for the Manmohan Singh government. The Left, which has made it clear that the UPA government could press ahead with the Indo-US nuclear deal at its own peril, on Wednesday joined hands with its ideological rivals, the RSS-backed Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and former defence minister George Fernandes in criticising the Centres anti-worker policies.

CPM polit bureau member and Citu leader M K Pandhe attended a rally organised by the BMS here on Wednesday in protest against the anti-workers policies of the UPA government.

And in yet another move that does not augur well for the ruling coalitions longevity plans, another senior CPM polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury shared the dais with Mr Fernandes at a function organised by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Staff Association to press for a better pay-structure, pension and gratuity. Interestingly, there was no representation from the Congress in this programme.

It was only on Tuesday that the Left leaders had participated in a protest rally organised by the UNPA to protest against the Manmohan Singh governments apathy towards the farmers cause.
