Comrades blame non-Communist attitude
The CPM leadership in West Bengal claimed it had identified the three prime reasons behind the party’s unprecedented debacle in 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
Mr Bose claimed that CPMs failure to organise continuous issue-based movements, its inadequate public relations along with immoral acts within the organisation had also influenced election results.
He rued that the Buddhadeb government could not execute a host of pro-people initiatives like distribution of BPL cards to mass rural electrification, thanks to a belligerent opposition. Small wonder, the CPM state leadership has urged all party units to counter the anarchic situation by reaching out to the masses and regaining their trust.
CPM has also chalked out some urgent jobs that will be carried out on a war-footing to gain lost ground before the 2011 assembly elections.
For starters, the party proposes to rally against the price hike of essential commodities and work towards distribution of cards for the BPL band. Efforts are also on streamline the process of issuing certificates to people belonging to the backward class and tribals to help them enjoy the facilities provided by the government. Mass movements will also be organised to implement the rural electrification programme.
