Complete list of declared 'hotspots' in Meerut and Gautam Buddh Nagar

In a late afternoon order, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced sealing of affected areas or 'hotspots' in 15 districts across the state having a high case load - with 6 cases or more- of the Covid-19 virus in a bid to prevent community spread from taking place. The decision came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met party leaders and expressed the likelihood of an extension of the nation-wide lockdown.

The 15 districts include-Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), Ghaziabad, Meerut, Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi, Shamli, Saharanpur, Firozabad, Bulandhshahr, Bareilly, Basti, Maharajganj and Sitapur.

The hotspots will remain sealed till April 15 morning. Only home delivery will be allowed. These are places where a large number of cases have been found, Director, Information Shishir communicated to the media. In addition to the creation of these containment zones, the government said it will make wearing face covers mandatory for those moving out of their homes.
