Company chief booked for threatening industrialist

Ruchi Soya Industries chief Kailash Sahara was booked on Sunday for allegedly beating and threatening a fellow industrialist.

INDORE: Ruchi Soya Industries Chief Kailash Sahara was booked on Sunday for allegedly beating and threatening a fellow industrialist.

A case was registered against Sahara, who is also Chairman of National Board of Trade (NBOT), for allegedly beating up and issuing life threats to owner of Divyajyoti Industries and Honorary Treasurer of the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) Satyanarayan Rathi, on February 1, city Superintendent of Police Bittu Sehgal told media.

Rathi had yesterday alleged in a press conference that attempts were made by Sahara's men to kidnap him in front of the Forward Market Commission (FMC) President B C Kathua.

He claimed the incident occurred when he was on way to a programme organised to raise awareness about futures trading at a local hotel where Kathua was also present.

Rathi alleged that when he was going to present a memorandum to Kathua about NBOT, Shahra's men seized him and warned of dire consequences if he went ahead with his plan. Kathua sent a few people outside immediately following which he was set free.

He claimed NBOT's shares belonging to member-brokers were allotted allegedly by Shahra to dummy companies created by him with an intention to sell the shares at a higher premium.

Rathi said NBOT was promoted by SOPA by investing Rs 2 crore, but Shahra had sidelined all the broker-members of both the bodies.
