With mounting questions over law and order, Odisha CM Mohan Majhi has accused "vested interests" of attempting to damage the state's reputation as a peaceful region.

The government has come under intense criticism in recent weeks following a series of disturbing incidents. Communal tensions flared in Cuttack, forcing authorities to impose a curfew in the otherwise calm city.

Adding to the pressure, BJP leader Pitabasa Panda was murdered in Berhampur on October 6.

As criticism grew, Majhi held a high-level review of the law-and-order situation and reiterated his claim that certain groups were deliberately trying to "tarnish Odisha's image." Police officials briefed him on the situation in Cuttack, where curfew restrictions have been lifted

The CM directed law enforcement to remain on high alert and instructed officials to hold regular meetings with influential community leaders to maintain peace and harmony in the state.
