Commonwealth Games scam: CBI files second chargesheet naming four employees of MCD
CBI has filed its second chargesheet in the Commonwealth Games scam, naming four employees of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, including two superintending engineers.
MCD commissioner K S Mehra had on Wednesday evening granted sanction to the investigating agency to prosecute its employees. They include superintending engineers D K Sugan and O P Sugan and two lower-level officials, Gurucharan Singh (UDC-tendering) and V Raju (accountant).
Armed with the sanction, CBI acted swiftly to file the chargesheet against seven individuals and a private sector firm. Besides MCD functionaries, those named in the chargesheet include Sweka Engineering, a Rajouri Garden-based firm, which had bagged the streetlighting contract, its two co-promoters JP Singh and TP Singh and Mehul Karnik, an employee of Philips (India).
The case in the streelighting scandal was the first to be registered by CBI as part of its probe into the irregularities committed by agencies and arms of the government in organising the CWG. The agency had earlier this year filed its first CWG chargesheet in the TSR scam.
