Commonwealth Games medal winner Kalpana Thoudam to get out-of-turn promotion in ITBP

NEW DELHI: The ITBP today felicitated Commonwealth Games Judo bronze medal winner Kalpana Thoudam at a ceremony here during which an annoucement was made to give her an out-of-turn promotion.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police chief Subhas Goswami gave the champion a cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh, a service commendation and citation as he also promised an out-of-turn promotion to the sportsperson.

Thoudam, who made the country proud at the Glasgow Games, is serving as an Assistant Commandant in the border guarding force.

She won a bronze medal in the 52kg category event. The judo team coach, from ITBP, Virendra Singh, was also honoured during the evnet held here at the force headquarters.
