"Common people, mainly those from rural areas should get the fruits of scientific and technological developments," He said during the inauguration of a state Biotech Hub and a Bioinformatics Centre at Tripura University campus here.
He said since the north-east and Himalayan region are biodiversity hot spots, the Centre has decided to build up the scientific infrastructure in those areas.
The Union Ministry had earlier provided Rs 3.7 crore to Tripura University for the projects.
The main objective of the Bioinformatics centre is to support the teaching activities of biology through applications of bioinformatics, to organize trainning or workshop for familiarizing the application of Bioinformatics in teaching and research, officials said.
