Committee's report on condition of Muslims in Maharashtra submitted

The committee was set up in 2008 to study the educational, social and economic backwardness of Muslims and suggest measures to improve their condition.

Committee's report on condition of Muslims in Maharashtra  submitted
MUMBAI: The Mehmoodur Rehman Committee, set up by Maharashtra Government to study condition of the Muslim community in the state, submitted its report to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan here today.

The committee was set up in 2008 to study the educational, social and economic backwardness of Muslims and suggest measures to improve their condition.

The seven-member committee, headed by retired IAS officer Mehmood-ur-Rehman, and comprising retired IAS, IPS officers and professors from institutes such as Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), had been appointed by the then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Rehman met Chavan today and handed over the report, an official said.
