Commercial tax department raids gutkha, pan masala units

LUCKNOW: The commercial tax department today carried out searches at four gutkha and pan masala manufacturing units across Uttar Pradesh following complaints of " tax evasion".

"Searches were carried out at the premises of four firms, including three manufacturing gutkha and pan masala at different places in Lucknow, Mathura, Noida and Ghaziabad," Commercial Tax Commissioner Chandrabhanu told PTI.

He said that the findings of the searches were yet to come as the field staff is still compiling and assessing the documents.

The searches were carried out following complaints of tax evasion, sources said.
