Commercial LPG: Kharge, Siddaramaiah call price rise a shocker to people on Labour Day
Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Siddaramaiah have strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They highlighted a substantial price hike in commercial LPG cylinders. This increase is expected to impact businesses and households, makin...

The PM had said he would not increase the price but has now delivered a shock to people by increasing the price, he told the media in Kalaburagi. He was, however, surprised to see people still supporting the PM despite increasing the prices.
Kharge’s party colleague, chief minister Siddaramaiah said the Modi government has increased the commercial LPG price quickly after the assembly polls were completed as he had all along warned.
“In just four months, the Modi government has increased commercial LPG cylinder prices six times, pushing the total burden up by Rs 1,518. This is not governance - this is organised looting. Every time global conditions change, instead of protecting Indian citizens, Modi simply passes the burden on to them,’ the CM said in a statement.
India’s “much publicized but hollow foreign policy” has failed to shield the economy, and now ordinary Indians are paying the price for it. “This hike will not just affect businesses, it will hit every household. Hotels, restaurants, small eateries, and catering services will be forced to increase prices, making everyday food more expensive,” he said.
The urban working class, daily wage earners, and small business owners will suffer the most. From a cup of tea to a simple meal, everything will become costlier, Siddaramaiah said, deploring Modi’s gift to people on Labour Day. “While workers ask for dignity and relief, this government gives them inflation and excuses. This is only the beginning; more such increases will follow, and the burden will keep shifting to citizens.”
