Collaboration with Congress to continue: AIUDF Chief

Guwahati: With All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and the Congress jointly supporting the candidate of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) activist Ajit Bhuyan for Rajya Sabha seat, AIUDF chief and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal said that this coming together of both parties will continue beyond 2021.

Assam is going to assembly polls on 2021. Ajmal who present in the state assembly in Dispur along with former Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi decl a red, "Our friendship has started and will continue beyond 2021, why talk only of 2021 assembly polls." Gogoi had earlier on may occasion resisted alliance with AIUDF.

Elections to the three Rajya Sabha seats from Assam will be held on March 26. BJP’s candidate Bhubeswar Kalita on Friday filed nomination and its ally Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has fielded Biswajit Daimary for the Upper House seat. Bhuyan also filed nomination for the Upper House. Friday was the last date of filing nomination. Assam finance minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that Congress MLA from Lakhipur, Rajdeep Goala will join BJP in couple of days.
