CHANDIGARH: Cold conditions and fog continued to prevail in several parts of Punjab and Haryana today throwing normal life out of gear at several places in the two states.

Fog again disrupted normal life at many places including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Ambala and Hisar, affecting movement of road and rail traffic in the region.

Amritsar remained the coldest place in the two states, recording a minimum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius, a MeT report said here.

The cold wave also swept Ludhiana, which recorded a minimum temperature at 3.6 deg C, two degrees below normal while Patiala's low settled at 6.4 degrees Celsius.

Hisar in Haryana also reeled under severe chill recording a minimum temperature at 3.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.

Narnaul's low was recorded at 4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

The minimum temperatures in Ambala and Karnal were recorded at 6.2 and 6.5 degrees Celsius.

However, the minimum temperature at Chandigarh rose by more than two notches since yesterday to settle at 7.2 degrees Celsius.
