NEW DELHI: State-owned CIL has contributed Rs 50 crore towards relief and rehabilitation works in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand.

"CIL...has contributed Rs 50 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund of Uttarakhand to supplement the rescue, relief, rehabilitation of the people and re-construction of the areas devastated by the recent calamity in Uttarakhand," an official release said.

In addition to this, Western Coalfields Ltd, a CIL subsidiary, has decided to contribute one-day basic salary of all of its employees to Prime Minister's Relief Fund for rehabilitation and relief works in the state, it said.

"It is expected that contributions of one day's basic salary of 54,737 employees on the roll of WCL would be more than Rs 5 crore," it added.
