CM to blacklist contractors who miss deadline

NEW DELHI: With little more than two months to go for the Games, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday is turning the heat on contractors going slow on Games work. Those contractors who are not able to finish their work by August 31 will not only be penalized but also blacklisted, she warned on Monday.

Stating that the Games is not far away now, Dikshit exhorted all contractors and consultants to fully concentrate on their work and bring any obstacle coming in their way to the notice of the city government so that it can be dealt with at the earliest. After a meeting with all the six cabinet ministers, chief secretary, principal secretary (PWD) and others officials on Monday, the CM reiterated the need for finishing work on time. ‘‘ September has been earmarked for final finishing , hence actual work is to be accomplished by August 31. Entire malba is to be removed by August 10,’’ she said.
