CM Raghubar Das seeks investments in Jharkhand
Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das has made a strong pitch for investments in manufacturing in the mineral-rich state and said its mineral reserves provide an excellent opportunity for the state to surge ahead.

“I invite new players and existing business houses to explore the opportunities offered by the state,” said Das, while addressing the ‘Jharkhand Mining Show 2017 – Mining & Minerals Summit’, organised by the state government and Confederation of Indian Industry.

“The mineral reserve of the state provides excellent opportunity for the state to surge ahead and be on the driver’s seat for the country’s growth,” he added.

At the summit, the Adani Group announced its intention to invest Rs 20,000 crore in Jharkhand over the next five years, helping generate 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. “We have invested in thermal power, coal mining, transmission and renewable energy business at large scale in the last few years. The experience has been truly encouraging due to the support of the state government in all phases of implementation,” said Group MD Rajesh Adani.

Railway minister Piyush Goyal said he was confident that a new Jharkhand will emerge by 2022. “He (Das) is scripting a whole new story for Jharkhand. Jharkhand will decide what will be the look of the country in the years to come. Unless we have a new Jharkhand, we cannot have a New India,” he said.

Jharkhand chief secretary Rajbala Verma said the state was the ideal destination for OEM and assembly units.
