PATNA: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who addressed the newly elected representatives of District Boards, Panchayat Committee and Gram Panchayats through webcasting in Patna on Thursday, underlined the need for mutual coordination among different Panchayat institutions at ground level.

He told them that the three panchayat institutions- Zila Parishads, Panchayat Samitees and Gram Panchayats- are autonomous and thus, there is need for mutual coordination for better results. He gave special emphasis on the construction of “Panchayat Sarkar Bhavan” (PSB) where people’s representatives can sit together.

The government has already began construction works of PSB in 1400 Gram Panchayats. The work is completed in 547 Gram Panchayats out of the total 1400. He informed them that PSBs are multi-purpose buildings. He asked banks to open their branches in the same PSBs.

Referring to his government’s decision to declare Bihar as a “dry state”, CM Kumar said the recent panchayat elections could be held in a good manner because of prohibition. He said the decision to enforce prohibition will bring positive changes in the lives of people. He appealed them to take prohibition pledge also.
