CM N Chandrababu Naidu resorting to theatrics: Amit Shah

A day after PM Modi called Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu a “backstabber,” BJP president Amit Shah termed the TDP leader’s one day fast in New Delhi on Monday “theatrics and histrionics” to grab headlines and “save his declining” political fortunes.

In an ‘open letter’ to the people of Andhra, Shah said Naidu was ‘aware’ that he had “ lost complete credibility” among people of his state and was announcing one sop after another to woo them.

“Sensing defeat in the coming elections, he has made multiple U-turns and is carrying on a malicious propaganda against the Centre and BJP leadership to divert people’s attention from his failures,” Shah alleged. The BJP chief referred to Naidu’s attacks against Modi and said he did not follow the basic courtesy of receiving the PM during his visit to the state. People will see through Naidu’s “desperation to retain power” and teach him a befitting lesson for joining hands with Congress, “which bifurcated the state in a unilateral, hasty and unscientific manager."
