CM J Jayalalithaa grants relief to family of deceased policemen

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today condoled the death of five policemen and announced a total sum of Rs 15 lakh as relief to their next of kin.

In a statement here, she expressed sympathy with the family of the deceased.

The Chief Minister said she had directed that the next of kin of the policemen be granted a relief of Rs three lakh each from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund.

Of the five cops, one was killed in a road accident while others died of natural causes, she said.

The Chief Minister also announced a compensation of Rs three lakh to the family of Balan, who was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in Nilgiris district recently.
