Karnataka's chief minister-designate Siddaramaiah on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Centre's decision to withdraw Rs 2000 notes from circulation, calling it another note ban.

The Congress leader, who will take oath as chief minister on Saturday, tweeted that the BJP regime at the Centre did not have a clarity about its own policies.

"Why did they introduce Rs 2,000 notes in 2016 if they had plans to ban it? This is BJP's desperate attempt to divert the attention from their failures," he said.

Siddaramaiah handled Karnataka's finance portfolio for many years and presented the state's budget 13 times.
