Jhansi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials to take stringent action against illegal mining, cattle smuggling and various mafia networks. He was reviewing the law and order situation and development work in the Jhansi district.

Chairing a meeting at the Commissioner Auditorium here, the chief minister assessed ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order and sought details of measures being undertaken by the administration.

According to an official statement, Adityanath issued a directive for strict action against illegal mining operators, cattle smugglers, land mafia and liquor mafia. He said illegal mining should be stopped at its source and instructed officials to use CCTV surveillance for effective monitoring of such activities.

The chief minister also ordered stringent action against overloading of vehicles and said Uttar Pradesh is the only state to have formulated a dedicated mining policy.

He directed officials to ensure that areas affected by illegal mining are levelled and subjected to large-scale plantation drives.

Adityanath stressed the need for regular interaction between government officials and public representatives, saying such coordination helps accelerate development. He suggested that foundation stone-laying and inauguration ceremonies for new projects should be carried out through public representatives.

The chief minister also directed that the "Jan Samvad" initiative launched by District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi be implemented across the state. He suggested that details of the programme be presented before the chief secretary through video conferencing so that the model can be replicated in other districts.

Expressing satisfaction over the use of the "Jan Samvad" platform for hearing cases under the "Nyayalaya Aapke Dwar" initiative, Adityanath said such innovations improve public access to governance and justice.
