Clean image, good governance: BJP’s mantras for 2014 Lok Sabha polls
Good governance and a clean image is Delhi BJP’s new mantra ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election, according to its new president Harsh Vardhan.

Sources say he cautioned councillors against sting operations as arch-rivals Congress and AAP are looking for opportunities to tarnish their party’s image . Vardhan met councillors from East and North Corporations on Friday . He told councillors to ensure there is no pending civic issue in their areas.
"From streetlights to roads , everything should be perfect , he told us. People should not have any complaint aboutcivicissues . There is need to network more aggressively with people . We have been asked to start a door-to-door contact programme," a councillor from North Corporation said.
BJP’s performance in municipal corporations came in for sharp criticism during the assembly election . Sources say , while AAP did major damage to the party , BJP’s own performance at the municipal level was also a reason for its poor performance in constituencies where it has more than three councillors.
"There is need to improve the corporation’s performance . Councillors are the first level of contact with the people . There is a need to focus on civic services," a councillor said.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Arvinder Singh recently asked Congress councillors to dig out corruption cases in all three corporations. Vardhan cautioned councillors against sting operations. "We should be careful as Congress and AAP will go to any length to malign BJP. We should not give them an opportunity ," a councillor with East Corporation said.
Vardhan also asked councillors to advertise BJP’s achievements in the corporations as "we have done a goodjobin thethreecorporations despite undergoing a financial crisis".
