Clash between PDP, NC workers stall polling in JK

Polling was stalled for nearly half an hour when workers of PDP and National Conference clashed with each other at Salwa polling station in Poonch district, police sources said.

POONCH: Polling was stalled for nearly half an hour when workers of PDP and National Conference clashed with each other at Salwa polling station in Poonch district, police sources said.

The trouble started when NC workers objected to polling by some voters to which PDP workers resented resulting in the clash, they said.

However, police and security personnels cane charge and brought the situation under control, they said.

The polling, which was stalled for half an hour, was resumed later, they said.

Confirming the incident, District Election Officer Mohammad Afzal Bhat said that no one was injured in the incident and polling is going on after situation was brought under control.
