Congress claimed that the rear windscreen of Gandhi's car got smashed when sudden brakes were applied as a woman came in front of the vehicle in Malda. The incident happened in Harishchandrapur in Malda. Congress posted on X, "A huge crowd had come to meet Rahulji in Malda, West Bengal. In this crowd, a woman suddenly came in front of Rahulji's car to meet him, due to which the brakes were suddenly applied. The glass of the car window broke due to the rope used in the security cordon...."
However, West Bengal PCC chief Adhir Chowdhury, who was travelling with Rahul Gandhi in the same vehicle, claimed in the morning, "Stones were pelted at the glass. I don't know who pelted it. Ever since the Yatra entered Cooch Behar, we have been facing various obstacles."
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee, speaking at a programme in Murshidabad, said: "I received a message that someone broke the glass of Rahul Gandhi's vehicle. I enquired about it. The incident happened in Bihar's Katihar. I condemn the incident. In Bihar, Nitish Kumar has come together with BJP. They might have done it out of grudge against Congress."
