Civic body elections: Ban on transfers in Punjab

In the light of imposition of the model code of conduct, the Punjab government has banned the transfers or postings of the officials in the state, an official spokesperson said.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on transfer of government employees, days ahead of civic body elections.

In the light of imposition of the model code of conduct, the Punjab government has banned the transfers or postings of the officials in the state, an official spokesperson said.

The elections to six municipal corporations Phagwara, Pathankot, SAS Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Moga and Bathinda and bye-elections of one ward of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar and two wards of Municipal Corporation Patiala are scheduled for February 22.

The general elections to elect members to 123 Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats and bye-elections to one ward of Nagar Panchayat, Bariwala, District Sri Muktsar Sahib are scheduled for February 25.
