NEW DELHI: Auto and Taxi unions today threatened to take out a protest march on September 21 from Rajghat to Delhi Secretariat against the newly-introduced ' City Taxi' scheme by the AAP government under which small cars will be allowed to ply on the city's roads.

Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh and Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union said that the new scheme will "snatch" the livelihood of the drivers of auto rickshaws and taxis.

On September 2, several auto and taxi unions had also gone on a day-long strike against this scheme.

"We will not sit silent till our demand is met. We have decided to take out protest march with black flags against the AAP government for introducing 'City Taxi' scheme.

"Thousands of drivers of autorickshaws and taxis will participate in the protest with their vehicles," Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh's general secretary Rajendra Soni said.

Soni, who is also general secretary of Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union, said that they cannot compromise with the livelihood of drivers and if there is any need in future, they will launch a series of protests.
