KOCHI: The CPM has rejected the view put forward by its trade union wing that Tamil militants were behind the strike of the tea workers of Munnar.

Rejecting the statement of CITU state secretary KP Sahadevan that Tamil militants were behind the strike in Munnar, the CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that trade union leaders who hold responsible positions should stop making such mislead ing state ments.

Kodiyeri Ba lakrishnan asked the unions to do a self-introspection in the context of the tea workers strike in Munnar.With the party taking a position against his views, Sahadevan later withdrew his statement and expressed his regret for making such a statement. Tea workers of all unions went on a major agitation demanding 20% bonus, wage hike and other benefits.
