Citizenship Act: Opposition to intensify agitation
Opposition parties plan to intensify their agitation against CAA and the proposed nationwide implementation of NRC.

Leaders of various opposition parties are planning to coordinate their protests in the coming days encouraged by major BJP allies — JDU, LJP, Akali Dal and AGP — who after voting in Parliament for CAB distanced themselves from CAANRC push in the wake of widespread public protests.
After having termed CAA and NRC as socially “discriminatory” and “anti-poor”, the Congress dharna and other pro -grammes will stress on the need to maintain peace and communal harmony during the protests.
“The dictatorial and stubborn BJP government at the Centre and in different states have used indiscriminate police force against ordinary citizens in the name of maintaining law and order. This has led to further worsening and spiralling of the situation and Congress is committed to upholding the principles enshrined in the Constitution and fight for the continuation, maintenance and safeguard of the rights of all, as enshrined and guaranteed by our founding fathers,” said a statement issued by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal on Sunday.
