Citing differences, Kamal hints political alliance with Rajinikanth unlikely
Rajnikanth, posed the question of an alliance, had always maintained that he would take that decision after the political establishments of both actors take shape.
Speaking at a student conference at Harvard Kennedy School, Haasan said: "His speech (the one in which Rajinikanth announced his political entry) had a certain hue. I hope it is not saffron." A sworn rationalist and an atheist, Haasan's approach to politics appears different from that of his acting contemporary, who had stated his will have an aspect of spirituality.
Rajnikanth, posed the question of an alliance, had always maintained that he would take that decision after the political establishments of both actors take shape. With Haasan coming out with such a prediction, the likelihood of an alliance diminishes even further.
Haasan launched a website maiam.com to enable people to register ideas and ignite discussions. The actor is set to launch his party on February 21, kickstarting a 4-district tour from Ramanathapuram, the birth district of former president APJ Abdul Kalam. Rajinikanth, however, has begun party-building, although there has been no word on a formal launch of the outfit.
