NEW DELHI: CISF Inspector General Ved Prakash has been decorated with the President's Police Medal for distinguished service on the occasion of the 69th Independence Day.

Prakash, a 1987-batch officer of the Central Industrial Security Force, is presently officiating as the IG (Administration) of the central force at its headquarters here.

The officer has also served in the army for over eight years before joining CISF and is currently looking after important assignments in the intelligence, operations and Naxal management tasks entrusted to the force.

Apart from Prakash, 25 other CISF personnel have also been awarded various medals on the occasion of I-Day.

The 1.47-lakh personnel-strong force is tasked to secure 59 major civil airports in the country apart from guarding vital installations in the aerospace and nuclear sectors.
