CISF contingent flagged off for UN mission in Haiti
NEW DELHI: A 144-member squad of paramilitary CISF has been flagged off for rendering United Nations mandated security duties in Haiti in the Caribbean island.

The contingent will render civil police duties and assist local police under the umbrella of United Nation Stabilisation Mission In Haiti (MINUSTAH).

The specially chosen squad has undergone training in weapon handling, crowd control and tackling of hostage situation among other security tasks.

The team was given a ceremonial send-off by CISF Additional Director General (Airports) R K Panchnanda from the forces camp in Ghaziabad near here yesterday.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is deputed on this UN mission since 2008 and this is the seventh contingent of the force to the country.
