NEW DELHI: The command of the country's main airport security force CISF was placed under the additional charge of the BSF Director General by Home Ministry as its chief Rajiv superannuated.

The Home Ministry issued orders appointing BSF Director General Subhash Joshi as the temporary head of the 1.47-lakh personnel strong CISF which protects some of the most vital infrastructure of the country in the aerospace and nuclear power domain.

Rajiv (known by one name), a 1975-batch Uttar Pradesh IPS officer, today proceeded on retirement after heading it for 21 months.

A ceremonial farewell parade was today held at the forces' garrison in Ghaziabad near here to mark the occasion.

Sources said a new DG for CISF is expected to be named in the next few days with two female IPS officers being in fray.

The Home Ministry, after two months, issued appointment order for a regular chief for border guarding force Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
