CII to construct 10K toilets this fiscal.
Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has taken upon itself the task of constructing over 10000 toilets in impoverished schools this fiscal.

Since the beginning of SBSV programme in October 2014, the industry body has constructed over 3800 toilets across the country. CII has roped in help from over 30 member-corporates to achieve this milestone.
The foundation had organised a series of consultations with implementers and technology providers before embarking on this mission. Different models were mapped in a matrix against water availability, soil type and climate before finalising the mission blueprint.
CII has undertaken construction of toilets mainly in the states of Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Tamil Nadu. Companies such as SRF, Securitas, Forech India, Hi-Tech Gears, Saint Gobain, Taylor & Rubber, Mahendra Sponge and Power, Godavari Power and Ispat ltd, among others, participated in the project.
Whilst the construction of remaining toilets is underway, CII has asked state governments to commit funds towards operations and maintenance of toilets with immediate effect.
The industry body has been asking its members to actively participate in various Swachch Bharat Mission projects. At its behest, companies like Saraplast, Reckitt Benckiser, HUL, Bharti Foundation, TCS and Toyota Kirloskar Motors have taken up community sanitation projects, drinking water initiatives and sewage treatment programmes across the country.
