Christy Fernandez new Tourism Secy

NEW DELHI: Christy L Fernandez was today appointed as the new Tourism Secretary in place of Ashok Kumar Mishra, who is due to retire at end of this month.

Fernandez, a 1973 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, is at present Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce.

His name was cleared by the Appointments' Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, it was officially stated.

The ACC also approved appointment of Leela K Ponappa as Deputy National Security Adviser and Secretary, National Security Council Secretariat for two years.
