Chouhan, Singh take oath a second time

Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Raman Singh, largely responsible for scripting the BJP’s second successive victory in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, respectively, took oath of office and secrecy on Friday.

NEW DELHI: Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Raman Singh, largely responsible for scripting the BJP���s second successive victory in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, respectively, took oath of office and secrecy on Friday. The ceremonies in Bhopal and Raipur, were attended among others by BJP president Rajnath Singh and the party���s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani.

In a symbolic gesture, Mr Chouhan took his oath of office at the Jamboori Maidan. This was the site where the BJP had in a rally organised in September vowed to retain the state for the party. Mr Chouhan was the sole member to be administered the oath of office.

While Mr Chouhan is the 29th chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and Dr Singh is the third chief minister of Chhattisgarh. Others who attended the function included NDA chief ministers Narendra Modi, B C Khanduri, Nitish Kumar, Parkash Singh Badal and Naveen Patnaik. BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu and actor and Rajya Sabha member Hema Malini were also present.
