Chouhan inaugurates Singarauli as 50th district of MP

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan today formally inaugurated Singarauli as the 50th district of Madhya Pradesh with Baidan becoming its headquarter.

SINGARAULI: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan today formally inaugurated Singarauli as the 50th district of Madhya Pradesh with Baidan becoming its headquarter.

Speaking at an inagural function here, he said the state government has carved out Singrauli district by incorporating entire Devsar, Chitrangi and Singrauli tehsils of Sidhi district.

The Revenue Department had issued orders to this effect on May 16 and its notification has already been published in Madhya Pradesh Gazette, he said.

The Chief Minister also announced slew of measures for the district's population including withdrawal of petty crime cases against Scheduled Tribes community living in jungles here.

"I know that petty criminal cases are registered against people (tribals) and farmers. State Government will withdraw these cases so that people should not shuttle between courts", the Chief Minister said.

He also announced setting up of a 200-bed hospital here and added that Rs three crore will be alloted for the construction of District Magistrate's Bhawan and one crore would be provided for infrastructural development in the newly formed district.

Tikamgarh Collector Vivek Porwal will be posted as the first District Magistrate of the new district as per goverment's order.

Earlier, a new district Alirajpur came into existence by incorporating three tehsils of Jhabua district in the western region last Saturday.
