New Delhi:Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday allocated portfolios to five members who had taken oath on Tuesday, with Narottam Mishra, who was vital in dethroning the Congress government in the state, getting the crucial home and health ministries.

Loyalists of former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia who switched over to BJP recently, secured two ministerial berths, though with downgraded portfolios from their previous stints.

Mishra, who handled water resources, parliamentary affairs and public relations in the previous BJP government, has improved his stature, becoming the de facto number two .

On the other hand, Scindia’s lieutenant Tulsi Silawat, who was proposed for a deputy CM’s position during the Kamal Nath-led Congress government, has been allocated the water resources ministry.

He was earlier the health and family welfare minister. Another Scindia loyalist, Govind Rajput, who was handling revenue and transport, has been given the cooperative, food and civil supplies ministries.

Scindia had, soon after the Cabinet expansion on Tuesday, called up his loyalists to assure them that they would find a place in the Cabinet soon.
