Chinkara killing: Ex-Maharashtra Minister Atram arrested

Former Maharashtra Minister Dharamrao Baba Atram, charged with killing of a chinkara deer, was today arrested by Forest Department officials here in Pune district.

BHOR (MAHARASHTRA): Former Maharashtra Minister Dharamrao Baba Atram, charged with killing of a chinkara deer, was today arrested by Forest Department officials here in Pune district.

Atram surrendered before the Sub-Divisional Forest Department office here on Thursday meeting the deadline set by Bombay High Court after it rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

NCP leader Atram, who resigned from the state Cabinet in wake of the June 14 chinkara poaching episode, is the main accused in the case filed under the Protection of Wildlife Act.
