AURANGABAD: Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao arrived here tonight on a five-day India visit amid upswing in ties between the two Asian giants despite the festering border issue.

Li will hold talks with Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 6, besides calling on President Pranab Mukherjee. The two countries will sign a number of MoUs after talks between Li and Ansari.

The Chinese Vice President will visit the Ajanta Caves here and meet the city mayor before leaving for Kolkata tomorrow.

In Kolkata, he will meet West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He will also visit Jorasanko Thakur Bari, the ancestral home of Rabindranath Tagore which is now part of Rabindra Bharati University campus.

He will arrive in Delhi on Thursday and will also address a group of Indian and Chinese entrepreneurs the next day.

The ties between India and China are moving ahead, particularly on trade front. Chinese President Xi Jinping had paid a three-day trip to India in September last year while Modi visited that country in May.
