Chinese President Xi Jinping gets rousing reception

CHENNAI: Chinese President Xi Jinping was given a rousing reception at the Chennai airport by folk artists who performed on the tarmac and swarms of cheering crowds on either side of the road leading to the summit at the historical shoretown of Mamallapuram on Friday. Bharatanatyam artists performed along with Tamil folk dancers.

The ruling AIADMK had rustled up crowds that thronged the airport, the ITC Grand Chola - where President Xi Jinping is staying and at many places en route to the summit site. At Mamallapuram, it was a visual spectacle as beautiful cultural performances were showcased against the backdrop of the breathtaking shore temple.
