Children’s deaths due to criminal negligence by BJP states: Congress
NEW DELHI: The Congress has lashed out at the Yogi Adityanath government in UP over the reported deaths of over 40 children at a Farrukhabad hospital, which comes alarmingly close after a deaths in Gorakhpur.

The main Opposition party, citing recent incidents of deaths of children in hospitals in Jharkhand and Rajasthan, said “criminal negligence” of the health of children has become a trend in BJP-ruled states and demanded that the prime minister speak up on the issue.

“The latest example is the painful death of 49 children in Farrukhabad... Deaths in Gorakhpur have reached 357....This deliberate and criminal neglect of the health of the people is not restricted to the UP alone. In Rajasthan, Banswara, 86 children have died in 53 days and in this year, 236 children have died in Banswara alone. Similarly, in BJP-ruled Jharkhand in Ranchi, in the last 28 days, 133 children died and in Jamshedpur, 164 children have died. Who is responsible for this criminal neglect of the health of our children,” AICC chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala wanted to know.

Maintaining that the children in Farrukhabad had also died due to lack of oxygen and medication, Surjewala said: “Will the prime minister and health ministry wake up from their slumber?"
