Chief Justice asks Tripura CM Manik Sarkar to take action against court ransackers
AGARTALA: The Chief Justice of Tripura High Court Deepak Gupta has asked the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to take legal action against the picketers who ransacked the office of the Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate of Sabroom in South Tripura district during the nationwide general strike by trade unions on September 2.

The Chief Justice wrote a letter to the Chief Minister yesterday about the incident at the office of the SDJM Sourabh Saha. The CM accordingly sent the letter to the Chief Secretary YP Singh for taking legal actions, state Law Minister Tapan Chakraborty told reporters last evening.

Police officials said after the SDJM Sourabh Saha entered his office on the day, a group of CPIM supporters ransacked the office of SDJM and the court.

The officer-in-charge of Sabroom police station Sanjit Sen sustained injuries when a contingent of police led by him tried to resist the picketers from ransacking the office and the court.

Yesterday, two FIRs were lodged against the picketers by Sen and the SDJM office but the attackers were absconding.

Sen told reporters that police was on the move to arrest the culprits.
