THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Electoral Officer of Kerala has sought a report from the District Collector on a complaint accusing Union Minister Shashi Tharoor of convening a meeting of pastors at his apartment and trying to bribe them to woo Chrisitan votes.

"District Collector is the Returning Officer in charge. I have sought a report into the complaint," CEO Nalini Netto told reporters here today.

The opposition LDF had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Tharoor based on news report and audio tapes aired by some regional channels in which Tharoor purportedly urged the pastors to persuade their followers to vote for him.

Tharoor is bidding for second successive term from Thiruvananthapuram.

CPI's Bennet Abraham and O Rajagopal of the BJP are challenging Tharoor in this constituency.
