NEW DELHI: Finance Minister P Chidambaram will inaugurate 2-day conference of senior officials at the ministry tomorrow to deliberate on issues pertaining to the indirect taxes regime, GST as well as administrative reforms.

"The two-day conference will deliberate on the issues relevant to indirect tax administration, such as additional revenue mobilisation, tax administration reforms, Service Tax, vision for IT infrastructure for CBEC, status of GST," an official statement said.

The 28th annual conference of Chief Commissioners and Director Generals working under Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) will also be attended by Chief Economic Advisor in Finance Ministry Raghuram Rajan and Minister of State (Revenue) Jesudasu Seelam.

The Finance Ministry has fixed the target of indirect tax collection, comprising customs, excise and service tax, at Rs 5.65 lakh crore for 2013-14.

The Ministry had collected Rs 4.73 lakh crore as indirect taxes during 2012-13, according to the latest data put on Department of Revenue's website.
