Moscow, June 8 (PTI) Finance minister P Chidambaram is arriving in Russia tomorrow on a three-day visit to attend the enlarged meeting of finance ministers of G-8 nations in Saint Petersburg.
India is among the select group of "outreach" nations picked by the club of world's richest nations, including the US and Russia.
Good governance in public finance is one of the main themes of the St Petersburg meet currently headed by Russia under G-8's rotating presidency.
India has achieved remarkable results in good governance of public finances while keeping inflation and deficit under control and her experience would benefit other emerging nations, experts here said.
During his stay in St Petersburg, Chidambaram is also scheduled to forge a joint strategy for IMF reforms at a trilateral meeting with Chinese and Brazilian counterparts.
The finance ministers of the three BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) nations are also to discuss a joint approach in view of rising oil prices.
Role and place of emerging markets would be one of the key themes of the G-8 finance ministers meet in St Petersburg, Russian deputy finance minister Sergei Storchak told Interfax.
Russia, India, China, Brazil and Mexico are "emerging" donors in the world and besides recipients of aid they themselves are rendering assistance to other nations, he said.
The policies and goals of such assistance are of great interest for G-8, Storchak said.
