Chidambaram on nuke panel

The nuke panel will have members eight from the UPA and six from the Left with Pranab Mukherjee as the convenor.

NEW DELHI: The committee to study the implication of the Indo-US nuclear deal will be in place soon.

The panel, with external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee as convenor, will have 14 members — eight from the UPA and six from the Left.

FM P Chidambaram, defence minister AK Antony, science and technology minister Kapil Sibal and Ahmed Patel will represent the Congress. The UPA will be represented by DMK, RJD and NCP nominees.

The Left has already announced its members for the proposed mechanism. Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury (CPM}, AB Bardhan and D Raja (CPI), Debabrata Biswas (Forward Bloc) and TJ Chandrachoodan (RSP) will be the Left members on the panel.
