Chidambaram likely to be made TNCC chief
CHENNAI: After prolonged deliberations on picking a new TNCC chief ahead of the local body polls in Tamil Nadu, AICC is likely to name former Union finance minister P Chidambaram to take over the reins of the state unit.

A tall leader like Chidambaram, recently elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra, is seen by the Congress high command as a much needed tonic for the party to prepare for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to unseat the BJP. Asked if he was in the reckoning, Chidambaram told TOI, "Please ask AICC." It has been more than a month since E V K S Elangovan resigned assuming moral responsibility for the party's poor show in the poll and the TNCC has remained headless.
