Chidamabaram in Guwahati to review law and order situation
Union Home Minister P Chidamabaram arrived in Guwahati against the backdrop of three bomb blasts in the city to review the law and order situation in Assam which was rocked by deadly explosions that left 88 people dead two months ago.
Chidambaram drove to a city hotel amidst tight security where he is scheduled to hold a closed-door meeting with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on the prevailing security scenario.
The Home Minister was also scheduled to hold a meeting tomorrow with the Unified Command structure of the state to be attended by senior police, army, paramilitary, and intelligence and government officials.
The former finance minister is also scheduled to inaugurate a branch of State Bank of India at Sonapur, near here, tomorrow.
The Home Minister is scheduled to discuss the extension of ceasefire with insurgent group National Democratic Front of Bodoland), which expired yesterday, and the setting up of a NSG hub in Guwahati with the Chief Minister.
