Chhattisgarh government has decided to recruit 4500 personnel in its armed forces to deal with Naxal menace in an effective manner, senior government functionaries said.

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh government has decided to recruit 4500 personnel in its armed forces to deal with Naxal menace in an effective manner, senior government functionaries said.

State home minister Nankiram Kanwar said that 4500 new constables would be recruited into Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF).

The process of recruitment has already begun and advertisement to this effect would be issued by the end of January, the minister said.

There are about 4500 vacancies lying vacant in various battalions and process has started to fill them up to help the armed force deal Naxal menace in a better manner, he said.

Meanwhile, senior officials with the home department said that Chhattisgarh has 13 CAF battalions out of which nine battalions have been stationed in the Naxal affected areas.

The rest of four battalions have been stationed to deal with the law and order problem in other areas.

Out of the 18 districts in the state, 10 districts are affected by Naxal menace and the state government has deployed more than 30,000 security personnel including CRPF, CAF, SPOs and district police here to deal with the Naxalites, they said.
